ISPTSA MEMBERSHIP
 
We only need 8 more families to join to reach the 100% membership goal and be recognized by WA PTA by THIS Wednesday, March 15! This is our final membership drive for the 2022-2023 school year. We greatly appreciated your support last year in helping to make us one of the few schools in WA to have our membership equal to our school population. Help us reach this goal again this year!

ISPTSA GRANTS
 
The ISPTSA provides a grant cycle twice a year for a budget line item called innovative grants. This is different from the recurring grant items that go to departments. This is an opportunity for teachers, staff, parents and students to complete grant applications to promote educational success at IS.
 
Please click this link for the form to submit a grant. This information was already relayed to teachers and staff with a deadline by March 7. We will extend this deadline until Tuesday, March 21 to allow our community to also submit grants. Any questions please send to president@isptsa.org.
 
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY
 
IS volunteers, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for the time and effort you have dedicated to our school. AUCTION NIGHT 2023
 
What an awesome sight to see such a fantastic turnout and support for International School at the Winter Auction! It truly was a night to celebrate our community. In addition to celebrating student performances, activities, and achievements, 160 parents and teachers raised their bid cards and clicked to bid or donate. While we’re still working to close the books on the auction – there’s still time for donors to request company matching donations (email vpfundraising@isptsa.org for assistance) and for you to donate if you couldn't attend. Early projections show us nearly doubling our fundraising target and raising approximately $70,000 for the PTSA after expenses. With funds secured, we’re working to ensure these funds are used to expand support for students and teachers at IS by providing opportunities, experiences, and equipment. Thank you! Questions? MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT NIGHT AND SOCIAL
 
Thank you for coming to the MS Parent Social and Parent Night Tuesday, February 7. We had a good turnout: ~50+ people; almost filled up the library. Find out more info here.
 
  1. We want to thank Arty (our MS counselor) for her wonderful talk on character, emotional, and social education.
  2. A big thank you for coming and bringing in the tasty dishes! By showing up, you have made contributions to our school community.
  3. Parents who were not able to make it, there will be more opportunities in the future. We will announce the event earlier so that people have more time to plan.

CONGRATULATIONS CIEL HA!
 
Congratulations to our 7th-grade student Ciel Ha! Her Visual Artwork titled "Art on Ice" has been selected by the Reflections Bellevue Council to advance to the state level. The digital showcase video will be available after February 6.
 
We also wish to thank every student from International School who participated in this year's Reflections program. Your art shows your voice and passion! In February, each participant will receive a certificate and award from the International Reflections program.

TALENT SHOW
 
Hello Titans!
 
The 2023 International School Talent Show is coming up and we want YOU to participate! Show off ANY talent, from singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or standup comedy! The talent show will be on Friday, March 31 after school, with participants being required to come to an audition on Monday, March 13, and a dress rehearsal on Monday, March 27.
 
Please fill out this form by Friday, March 10 if you’re interested/would like to perform—more details will be sent out!

SAT PROCTORS AND SUPPORT STAFF NEEDED

International School will be administering the school day SAT to 11th graders Wednesday, March 22. We are looking for parents who can proctor the test and parents who are able to provide school support. Parents of 11th graders CANNOT proctor the test or provide support.

Proctoring involves:

  • Arriving at 7:45 AM and staying through the end of the test which is likely to end around 1 PM.
  • Participating in a short proctor training via the College Board website
  • Distributing testing materials on test day
  • Reading the directions out loud to the students
  • Monitoring the testing room
  • Recording testing irregularities
  • Collecting testing materials

School support involves:

  • Providing proctors breaks
  • Directing student traffic during passing periods
  • Reminding students to remain silent during passing periods

CAREER DAY – CALL FOR SPEAKERS
 
This year, we are planning a Career Day for students during Focus Week on Wednesday, May 24 to inspire, learn, and be exposed to different careers along with learning different life skills. Would you or do you know someone who would like to come to speak to our students about:
  • Careers and passions?
  • Finance/money/budgeting/credit?
  • Resume/presenting yourself on paper and social media?
  • Interviewing/oral presentations?
  • Motivation/inspiration?
